Stonehenge Empowerment Fund

The Stonehenge Capital / National Urban League Empowerment Fund will make debt and equity investments in small businesses located in distressed communities nationwide. In May 2004, Stonehenge Community Development received a New Markets Tax Credit allocation to help create the Fund. The Fund is administered by Stonehenge Community Development, LLC, and is operational and actively investing.

The Fund will draw on the strengths of Stonehenge and the
National Urban League & its local affiliates. Through its 100+ offices nationwide, the Urban League will locate needy small businesses, while Stonehenge will apply its extensive investment experience to provide customized, below-market rate financing solutions.

The Fund will invest in non-real estate small businesses located in Low Income Communities nationwide, prioritizing investments in "areas of greater distress" as defined by the US Treasury. Investments will be in the form of customized debt and equity business financing, coupled with high-quality financial counseling provided by the Urban League. A portion of the Fund's profits will be donated to the Urban League for continuation of its financial counseling services.

Businesses interested in receiving funding or learning more about the Fund may contact the Cincinnati Entrepreneurship Center Inititative at 513-487-6535 or contact Dee Anderson at danderson@gcul.org
