This is the first scheduled round for the Resiliency Fund application submission period and will remain open from Wednesday, February 28 until Tuesday, March 19th, 2024*. Applications will be reviewed for eligibility, and award winners will be communicated via email through the application portal.

About The Resiliency Fund: City of Dayton


The focus of the Resiliency Fund: City of Dayton is to support small black and brown minority businesses that are continuing to operate and plan to operate for the remaining calendar year of 2024.  The various Tiers represent the support minority Businesses of color need to bridge the financial gaps the COVID-19 Pandemic has disproportionately affected Minority Businesses. The Resiliency Fund also provides an opportunity for businesses to receive support to allow them to pivot during these challenging times.

Eligibility


Eligible Black and Brown minority businesses applicants will submit required documentation through the application portal that will be provided. Submission of this application does not guarantee approval or selection. All applicants that receive funding will be required to work with a partner Technical Assistance provider. Please review the required documents needed if selected. Please submit the required information as requested.

A business may only apply for one of the following three Tiers of the Resiliency Fund each Application period. Multiple applications by the business or its business owner(s) will result IN-ELIGIBILITY of any Resiliency Fund

Tier Levels

The Resiliency Fund (for Black and Brown Minority Businesses): Grant Eligibility and Application Process

A business may only apply for one of the following tiers of grants. Multiple applications by the business or business owner(s) will result in-eligibility of any Resiliency Fund Grant offerings.


Tier 1
The Operational Emergency Relief Grants ($2,500)


The Resiliency Fund- Operational Emergency Relief Grant Fund is designed to support black and brown minority businesses that need funding to help stabilize and/or address an immediate hardship in their business. The focus of these funds is to support smaller minority businesses that are continuing to operate and plan to operate for the remaining calendar year of 2024 in the City of Dayton (Corporate Limits)

There will be 15 total applications accepted, and ONLY 12 applications will be randomly selected for this period. (Once the application pool is filled the application portal will be closed)

  • Applicants are screened for eligibility.
  • Maximum Revenue for all Grant offerings is $1,500,000.
  • This Grant offering primarily supporting businesses with $25,000 or less in Revenues.
  • Eligible applicants are selected by eligibility and a lottery.
  • Application Period:
    • 2 Application periods
    • Application opens on the 4th Weds of the month (February, and April 2024 Only). Application will open for 10 business days or until until application pool is full.
    • 15 applications per month.
    • 12 applications selected.
  • Application materials required:
    • In Business 9 months or more
    • Certificate of Good Standing with the State of Ohio
    • Must be current on all City of Dayton Taxes
    • Proof of minority ownership
    • Signed IRS Form W-9
    • Color copy of State or Federal ID or Driver’s License
    • Proof of minority ownership
    • 2022 Business Tax Return
    • 2023 Business Tax Return or 2023 Business Income Statement
    • Business Bank Account Statement (3 months prior to application date)
    • Documentation showing need (outstanding invoice, bill, rent payment due, etc.)
    • Description of how funds will be used

Tier 2
The Community Opportunity Grants
($5,000)


The Resiliency Fund- Operational Emergency Relief Grant Fund is designed to support black and brown minority businesses that need funding to help stabilize and/or address an immediate hardship in their business. The focus of these funds is to support smaller minority businesses that are continuing to operate and plan to operate for the remaining calendar year of 2024 in the City of Dayton (Corporate Limits)

There will be 17 total applications accepted and ONLY 17 eligible applications will be randomly selected for this period. (Once the application pool is filled the application portal will be closed)

  • Applicants are screened for eligibility.
  • Maximum Revenue for all Grant offerings is $1,500,000.
  • This Grant offering primarily supporting businesses with $25,000 or more in Revenues.
  • Eligible applicants are selected by eligibility and a lottery.
  • Application Period:
    • 2 Application periods
    • Application opens on the 4th Weds of the month (February and April 2024 Only). Application will open for 10 business days or until application pool is full.
    • 17 Applications per month
    • 17 Applications selected.

Tier 3
The Catalyst Investment Relief Grants
($10,000)


The Resiliency Fund- Operational Emergency Relief Grant Fund is designed to support black and brown minority businesses that need funding to help stabilize and/or address an immediate hardship in their business. The focus of these funds is to support smaller minority businesses that are continuing to operate and plan to operate for the remaining calendar year of 2024 in the City of Dayton (Corporate Limits)

There will be 6 total applications accepted and ONLY 6 eligible applications will be randomly selected for this period. (Once the application pool is filled the application portal will be closed)

  • Applicants are screened for eligibility.
  • Maximum Revenue for all Grant offerings is $1,500,000.
  • This Grant offering primarily supporting businesses with $75,001 or more in Revenues.
  • Application Period:
    • 2 Application periods
    • Application opens on the 4th Weds of the month (February and April 2024 Only). Application will open for 10 business days or until application pool is full.
    • 6 Applications per month
    • 6 Applications selected.
  • Application materials required:
    • In Business 9 months or more
    • Certificate of Good Standing with the State of Ohio
    • Must be current on all City of Dayton Taxes
    • Proof of minority ownership
    • Signed IRS Form W-9
    • Color copy of State or Federal ID or Driver’s License
    • Proof of minority ownership
    • 2022 Business Tax Return
    • 2023 Business Tax Return or 2023 Business Income Statement
    • Business Bank Account Statement (3 months prior to application date)

There will be a limited amount of grants available for each level. The number of available grants will be listed on each application description.  More grant opportunities may vary depending on available funding.  Each Grant level will have a separate application link for each month. Please review each grant offerings description to determine which will be best for your business.

Only choose one grant offering to apply for each month eligible.  If you are not selected, you will have to complete a separate application for each month that you apply.  If you are selected to receive a Resiliency Fund Grant Award, you are NOT ELIGIBLE for any other future grant offerings in the calendar year.  

The Resiliency Fund is provided by the Miami Valley Urban League (MVUL) and being administered by the Greater Cincinnati Microenterprise Initiative (GCMI).

All communication for these Grant offerings will be by email only initially. Please submit communication through the application portal or application portal email address.

Yes, this Grant offering is focused on supporting businesses that are located in the City of Dayton Corporate limits.

The next application period opens on February 28th at noon. 

The deadline for the next application portal is March 13th at 11:59 PM. 

Funds are not restricted but should be used for the purpose you listed on the grant application.

Applications will be evaluated for completeness, accuracy of financial data, and explanation of need.

All Applicants must complete their application and submit the required documentation via the submittable platform. Once the Application deadline has expired, all applications will be reviewed for completeness and accuracy. If the Resiliency Fund team has any additional questions they will communicate through the Submittable portal. It will be important to check your Submittable portal weekly. The system should send you a notification of any communication to the email address you used when signing up.


All decisions will be communicated through the portal.

The process will take up to 3-4 weeks before a decision is communicated. If selected it will be an additional 2-3 weeks before checks are issued. Your response to additional information will also dictate the timeline.

A check will be issued to the name of the business. It will be issued to the name of the business listed on the W-9 that is completed. We will provide an option to allow participants to pick up their check from a specified location. 

You will receive an email communication about your status. You are eligible to reapply for future grant offerings but please review eligibility and required documents to help ensure your submission of the best application for your business.
